CPU Meter - Privacy Policy
Back 2 Basics CPU Meter · Effective Date: August 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Back 2 Basics CPU Meter ("the App") handles information on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy. The short version: the App collects no personal data, sends no data anywhere, and stores only your in-app preferences locally on your Mac.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, Apple ID, device ID)
- Location data
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Browsing history or activity outside the App
- Any data from other applications running on your Mac
2. System Data Accessed Locally
To display CPU, RAM, and GPU metrics, the App reads real-time performance statistics from macOS system interfaces (Mach kernel APIs and IOKit). This data is:
- Read-only — the App never modifies system state
- Processed entirely on your device
- Never stored to disk beyond the current session
- Never transmitted over a network
This is equivalent to what macOS's own Activity Monitor displays and is standard practice for system monitoring utilities.
3. Preferences Stored on Your Device
The App saves your settings (refresh interval, which stats to display, and whether to launch at login) using macOS UserDefaults. This data:
- Stays entirely on your Mac
- Is never transmitted or shared
- Can be cleared by deleting the App or resetting its preferences via Terminal
4. No Network Connections
The App makes no network requests of any kind. It has no servers, no analytics endpoints, no update checks, and no third-party SDKs.
5. No Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, or data-sharing frameworks.
6. Children's Privacy
The App does not collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. It is fully compliant with COPPA.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Because no personal data is collected, changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in any meaningful way.
